[Qgis-developer] Very poor performance moving features

I'm getting very poor performance doing a simple move in edit mode of a
moderate number of features (~5,000)

This occurs moving simple point features---QGIS churns for a long time
before displaying the new location of the selected features. This has been
confirmed on both Windows 7 and OS X with both a shapefile and a memory
layer.

This appears to be a regression from 2.0---unless I'm missing a magick
setting somewhere.
