[Qgis-developer] Field comments

Hi,

The "comment" column in the fields tab of the layer properties shows the
comment provided by the database.

The column in the layer properties is editable but when I change it it
does not seem to be saved. Does anyone remember if it was once possible
to override the comment (what would be nice IMO)? From a short look at
the code it does not seem so.

I would propose to
1) make the column read-only to avoid confusion
2) allow to override the comment and re-introduce editing possibilities

Any thoughts on this?
