[Qgis-developer] Updating plugins crashes QGIS

Hi,

The Time Manager plugin registers a function to provide access to its
animation time in the main application. It seems like changes to how QGIS
handles the registering/unregistering of these functions have caused Time
Manager updates to make QGIS crash again (
https://github.com/anitagraser/TimeManager/issues/95#issuecomment-154594229
).

Is there any way to make QGIS more resilient to these issues? A segfault
seems like an overreaction ;-)

Should I open a ticket?
