[Qgis-developer] Developing original spatial database : retrieving geometry column information via ODBC connection

Hi there.

I have a question while adding retrieving vector layer from a spatial
database.
Actually our company has its own spatial DBMS product, name's Kairos.
Problem is, we want to make our product working with QGIS.

Here's the question:
When adding vector layer via odbc connection, the list of tables is shown
after setting information for odbc connection.
But in the list, the column 'geometry types' says 'Unknown' although table
has geometry column in it.

I want to fix this by modifying our own DBMS or QGIS itself if it's needed.
I set debugging environment for QGIS in Visual Studio 2010, Windows.

Where can I start?
Does anyone know which code is involved in retrieving geometry information
from database?

Any suggestions will be appreciated.
