[Qgis-developer] Warning - shapefile corruption on 2.16/master and how to recover

There was another report of Shapefile corruption earlier with 2.14 which I thought it could be side effects of the solution for #11007:

geez... this unfortunately sounds familiar... remember all the issues with deleted features and shapefiles opened in software other than QGIS?

Can this be something related to that?
