That's cool - I haven't thought about the font markers. I thought
they can only display a single character - but apparently, with
data-defined characters you can also have more than one character
and expressions. Quite powerful!<br>
<br>
I tested it with start and end markers and it works fine!<br>
<br>
The only drawback is that labels appear up-side-down - something
that the label engine takes care of.<br>

Use case:<br>
Label a linear feature multiple times with different label
text. E.g. a label at the beginning of the line, a label
somewhere along the feature, and a different label at the end
of the line.<br>

@Matthias: this would be for the waste-water management
application where we need a main label and two minor levels at
certain map scales numbering the pipes/reaches flowing into a
manhole or special structure.<br>
