<div dir="ltr"><div><div>These seem to be basically what I am looking for, but they are an external process that saves the results to a file. It would be nice to simply have a method that returns the result. So now I am not quite sure how to proceed. GRASS probably has the functionality, but not in the form I would like.<br><br></div>Cheers,<br><br></div>Calvin<br></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Fri, Jun 28, 2019 at 9:25 AM Christian Yrrman <<a href="mailto:yrrman@gmail.com" target="_blank">yrrman@gmail.com</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex"><div dir="ltr"><div>Hi Calvin, Martin,</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>forgot to say there are also grass functions to do this, namely <br></div><div><br></div><div>r.sunhours</div><div>r.sunmask.datetime</div><div>r.sunmask.position</div><div><br></div><div>see</div><div><a href="https://github.com/OSGeo/grass/tree/master/raster/r.sunmask" target="_blank">https://github.com/OSGeo/grass/tree/master/raster/r.sunmask</a></div><div></div><div>for reference. <br></div><div><br></div><div>With this you can also get shadow areas from dems.</div><div><br></div><div>Best</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Chris<br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Fri, Jun 28, 2019 at 9:53 AM Martin Dobias <<a href="mailto:wonder.sk@gmail.com" target="_blank">wonder.sk@gmail.com</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex">Hi Calvin<br>

There doesn't seem to be a capability for this, but perhaps I have missed it. Are there other astronomical calculations that would be worth while in QGIS? (Moon asimuth/position, phase)<br>

Just adding another +1 vote to have something like this in QGIS :-) At<br>
some point I would like to look into rendering of shadows of buildings<br>
in QGIS 3D - and for this it would be important to have the ability to<br>
calculate sun position.<br>

Cheers<br>
