[Qgis-psc] version numbering

Hi all.
I just noticed OTB, like most major proprietary software, releases a
major version at more or less fixed intervals. From our point of view,
the version number is an irrelevant problem, but many users tend to
trust more programs with an higher major number, and they are used to
evaluate the maturity of a software from it.
Having said that, what prevents us from adopting the same schema? I know
it sounds stupid, and it may even look like cheating, but I think we
should realize this is bad marketing for us, and as marketing advisor I
feel urged to raise the issue.
Please note: I am *not* against the current versioning schema, and I'm
not defending this other one. I just want we make a conscious choice,
now that we are becoming mainstream.
All the best.
