It is not *my* preference, I'm trying to guess what is the best
marketing strategy :)
I think people expects more or less one major release per year, but a
good compromise could be to be less restrictive than we are currently,
and release a new major version any time we have some significant
improvement. For example, the addition of QGIS server could have been a
good reason to jump to 2.0, etc.
