[Qgis-psc] outstanding issues

Dear PSC

Can we wrap up this thread and switch over to action? I’d like to summarise my take on it (thanks to Anita for some off list clarifications):

                       ftools OK reshape/split tools ok
QGIS 2.8.3 Y* N
QGIS 2.10 N N
QGIS 2.12 N N

* or not more broken than in previous releases

Split tools:
----------------

Reshape/split tool fix is being funded by Vorarlberg (thanks!) and the fix will be applied to QGIS master.

So what we have to do in the short term is backport the fix to QGIS 2.8.4 and release once it is applied to master.

FTools:
-------------

So I see three options:

1) make small band-aid fixes to fix immediate issues
2) try to sponsor e.g. Nyall or Jürgen to completely rewrite in C++ and have python bindings added so that they can be used from processing
3) try to sponsor e.g. Victor to implement as processing algs and then just wrap them as actions in the vector menu

Does that about some things up as others see it?

Since it seems like split etc. tools are already taken care of do we want to pick from the above options and use some QGIS funds to make it happen? If so please state your preference or add alternative solutions/

Regards

Tim
