can we just keep qgis 2.18 in osgeo4w still for a while (maybe calling
it qgis-old?)?

what to do will all the tickets tagged to qgis <= 2.18 that will not
receive any feedback in a few weeks time?
closing them? That would help a lot cleaning up things on redmine.
