[Qgis-psc] Establishing an Official QGIS User Group Philippines [Steps to Take]

Dear Ben Hur,
Thank you so much for your efforts in maintaining an "unofficial" QGIS user
group in the Philippines - and for your willingness to turn this effort
into an "official" user group.
Some important things:
- It would be great if you could organize a group of active people
driving the effort besides you, e.g. form a small board of dedicated
people. It would be good if the work could be distributed between several
people besides you
- Please try to register the country level QGIS domain - qgis.ph - make
sure that this domain is not "owned" by a company, but by the local user
group.
- Try to establish regular meetings (currently probably primarily
online, but later also "in person" meetings) with presentations and
workshops
- If feasible and doable it would be good to establish a local official
association (or similar) and hand over ownership of the domain name to that
association
- Facebook is ok to use, but please don't use it as the "only" channel.
Facebook is quite restrictive and politically not neutral at all (at
multiple occasions Mark Zuckerberg mentioned that they would oppose the
Democrats in the US, because they would want to put regulations on data
privacy and probably start antitrust measurements). It is also really
problematic regarding privacy (collecting user data without their consent).
Ideally you could find an alternative channel besides Facebook for your
discussion (don't know if this is feasible).
- Finally: please send the name and contact of the "official contact" of
your group to Marco Bernasocchi (marco at qgis.org). That would probably be
you?
Let us know if you want further assistance and greetings,
Andreas
