[Qgis-psc] Issue saving Edits to a Layer, shape file layer now appears corrupted

Good morning,

I am having issues with my QGIS layer files. I created the layer file and saved it over 2 months ago. I have come back to it and I could not edit the file. I had a newer version of QGIS, but I have now reverted back to the older version that I previously created the layers on.

I was able to draw a polygon on the layer and create symbology, but when I clicked to save the layer it disappears, however the symbology remains. I have closed and opened the project. I have restarted my computer, and this still isn't working. The layer now appears corrupted, and has completely changed. However when a colleague then opens it on their device it appears as it did previously, however they cannot save edits to it also.

As a company we are thinking of subscribing to ARCQIS however with these current issues we are finding this slightly off putting.

Please advise.

Kind regards,
