 I can again reproduce the crash with GSSHS 2.0 Shapefiles:
 ftp://ftp.soest.hawaii.edu/pwessel/gshhs/GSHHS_shp_2.0.zip.

 QGIS trunk r11495, GDAL 1.6.2, QT 4.4.3, GEOS 3.1.0, Debian stable amd64.
