 Tested with shape files:

  1. Set Option->General->Attribute Table behaviour->Show features in
 current canvas
  2. Load a layer and pan to an area without features
  3. Open the attribute table -> now row appears
  4. search for a string in a string column
  5. press search
  6. => crash
