 Form msieczka comment to Stephan bug report at the above link, I think the
 correct syntax should be:

 INSERT INTO tbl_projection VALUES("sterea", "Oblique Stereographic
 Alternative","Azimuthal, Sph&Elll", "");

 I uploaded my modified database at the link below, for anybody using Linux
 with Qgis 1.0 who does not know how to edit the database themselves. It
 should recognise sterea with this change. You can delete all the custom
 databases I have, and just add your own.
