 I have got working an old PC with XP today, I have downloaded fresh
 nightly build r12883 via osgeo4w and it works!

 Lutra, are you sure your installation is not broken? Maybe qgis-dev was
 built with newer version of libs? Could you try to reinstall from scratch?
