 Why are you using a different demo data in each comment, please choose one
 and use it always.

 Forget about 1.4., obviously if a raster is stored with certain provider
 in project it is reloaded with the same even in different qgis version.

 Most probably the problem is stdout in text mode on windows and occasional
 convertion of \n to \r\n, I have submitted a fix, we will see tomorrow.
