#3049: GdalTools: merging images with different colormaps
------------------------------------------------+---------------------------
Reporter: brushtyler | Owner: brushtyler
Type: bug | Status: new
Priority: major: does not work as expected | Milestone: Version 1.6.0
Component: Python plugins and bindings | Version:
Keywords: gdaltools, merge, colormaps | Platform_version:
Platform: All | Must_fix: No
Status_info: 0 |
------------------------------------------------+---------------------------
To mosaic colormapped images with different colormaps, you need to first
convert the images to 24bit RGB format (with pct2rgb.py).
So, in the gdal tools merge tool would be nice to
add and advice
or
add a test to see if the problem occurs and then throw a warning
Note that a similar problem occurs also with gdalbuildvrt: the resulting
colormap is the one of the first input raster. The result is a raster with
a wrong colormap in at least 50% of its extensions.
