Comment:

 ding!  That was it.  Qt compiled from source wasn't working properly.
 This is probably what is causing some other problems on Leopard.  I'm
 going to close this as invalid and build a new Qgis 1.5 package for
 Leopard.

 Unfortunately, this means I can't make a PPC Mac Qgis.  There were issues
 (I don't remember what) using Qt Carbon (the only "official" binaries
 available for PPC).  Major problem for me actually, since we still have a
 lot of PPC Macs where I work, and I'm trying to get Qgis into our
 workflow.  I'll have to look at Qt Carbon again...
