 I did a little test using both:

 {{{
 QPainter::SmoothPixmapTransform
 QPainter::HighQualityAntialiasing
 }}}

 In src/gui/qgsmapcanvasmap.cpp for AntiAlias flags. Both choices did not
 resolve the issue for me. Using:

 QGIS r15734 Trunk
 Qt 4.7
 }}}
