Comment:

 from what I see, this is working now: using a project to a postgis layer
 with a server on another portnummer gives me a connection string like:

 CONNECTION "dbname='geo' host=localhost port=54322 user='qgis'
 password='qgis' sslmode=disable"

 closing this issue, please reopen or open a new one if I'm wrong.
