[Qgis-user] save displayed region ?

I don't believe there is. You can bookmark the region, then look at
the bookmarks if you only need the bounds. But directly exporting to a
new vector is not there to my knowledge. You might want to look at the
available plugins to see if any of them provide this functionality.
