How important is it that bug checking is carried out against trunk? I
think it is a difficult question to answer because on the one hand you
don't want people wasting time filing bug reports against issues that
have been fixed in trunk and on the other hand many users (like
myself) have not been prepared to tackle the daunting task of
compiling the source in trunk.
Some ideas:
1. Automate the build of a weekly svn snapshot for the major os
distributions and make these builds available for download.
2. Provide RDP access to a test machine. This option will not cater
for all the os nuances but I guess that most bugs are not concerned
with the os.
I hope to hear some thoughts from the developers. Maybe the rate of
development is slow enough for the latest branch (0.10) to be
sufficient.
Regards
Craig
