[Qgis-user] tiff import: Projection info is not read into QGIS

I'm reading a geotif file for which gdalinfo reports projection
information (see below) but once it is read in QGIS the projection in
proporties/general is:
+proj=longlat +ellps=WGS84 +datum=WGS84 +no_defs

gdalinfo reports:
