What Qt version do you use?

Btw. Manual installation of the Plugin installer isn't necessary as it's built 
in QGIS. By installing it, you mask the native instance, so you can try to 
remove the /home/erwin/.qgis//python/plugins/plugin_installer directory and 
restart QGIS. However it probably won't help you in this case.
