[Qgis-user] Problems installing QGIS 1.0.2 on Windows XP

Hi All,

I have downloaded the windows standalone version of QGIS 1.0.2 and installed it on 2 windows XP machines. The first installed just fine, asking me to uninstall the previous version first, and ran with no problems. The second, on the same make of pc and same operating system, seemed to install OK but failed to start from the shortcut or from double-clicking the exe itself, with the following error:

"C:\Program Files\Quantum GIS\bin\qgis.exe. This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem".

Needless to say I have reinstalled the programme! I've also checked that I have enough administrative privileges to run it, and I've ensured that the setup files were on a local drive rather than a network drive.

I would like to search the forums for assistance on this, but right now I can't access them- though I'm not sure if that's an issue with my firewall.

I'm not sure where to start looking for more pointers on what has gone wrong with this- so any help resolving the problem would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks for your help

Jo
