[Qgis-user] Windows 7

Today I tried to install the QGis 1.3 and 1.2 on my Windows7 Packard Bell dot M GE.015, however was never successful. 

Other system details: 
Processor: AMD Athlon L110, 1.20Ghz
RAM: 1.0 GB
32-bit operating system

A desktop item appears, however it does not link to anywhere. In my "program files" there is no QGis folder. 

Would be grateful for any help on the issue, does this have to do with Windows 7?
