[Qgis-user] raster handling and calculations

Is there a way of comparing the data in two raster images (actually two DEM's) that cover the same area but at different resolution?
So far I have created a grid of points and used the point sampling tool to get the value from the two rasters but this is a long way round, is there a direct way of doing calculations and displaying the results without the grid resampling stage?
