Hi Gerry,
if I remember right, I had no problems at all getting compiled the gdal,
geos and proj libs required by Postgis, which I also compiled from sources
as well as probably Qgis. Just make sure to get the correct versions. Here
I think you'll find everything about the necessary dependencies:
