Thank you very much for your answer:  that's fine for ubuntu 10.04 
Lucid's users !

i must add, however,  that i have switched since two weeks to Debian 
amd64 in version Squeeze, which will be the next stable version of Debian
and  which is already in a "frozen" status,  meaning that the stable 
version will come soon, ... but with qgis 1.4 included i suppose) .
Then  I hope  that there is also a  1.5 stable solution for Debian 
Squeeze amd64 .
