[Qgis-user] How to capture a polygon for a non-spatial feature

How do you capture a polygon (or any geometry type) for a feature in the attribute table that does not have an existing geometry?

I tried selecting the geometry in the attribute table then creating a polygon with the capture polygon tool, however it only brings up a dialog for a new feature.
