I agree.

Another solution would be to build a specific table in the 
postgis-enabled database, containing two fields: one for the table, and 
one for the style. The second field would contain the whole style file, 
which is an xml.
Something like:
CREATE TABLE qgis_styles (tablename varchar, qgisstyle varchar);

And then, qgis could populate this table, on demand, with the relevant data.
