just set Raster -> GdalTools settings -> path to GDAL binaries
to something like

/library/frameworks/GDAL.framework/Versions/1.8/Programs:/usr/bin

where the part before colon (:) is the path to Gdal binaries and
the part after colon is the path to the python executable.
