[Qgis-user] problem while clipping an .img

Does anyone know a way around a problem that I face:
I am trying to cut smaller pieces from a global data layer in Erdas img format by drawing a box around the area (Clipping mode, Extend), but I get an error saying 
-srcwin 2212 1044 0 0 falls outside raster size of 4424x1840 
I did manage to clip a tif by this same function. 
When I try to clip the img by a country boundary I get another problem:
