[Qgis-user] how to identify individual points on a map

There are some plugins that will sort of do this but not found something that allows easy click on a point to immediately see all the information about that point, then click on another one to see info about that point.  An example, a map with thousands of points(each with a code number and lat long info) plotted over a google basemap layer, just zooming in on the points shows the google location in its coordinate system not the lat long info that could be used to find the location in the points .csv file.
