[Qgis-user] Vector2raster

Hi list,

I did try to use the Vector2raster tool in the raster menu. In this dialog I
saw that only Real types of attributes can be transformed from vector to
raster.
I have a SHP layer and a attribute field as String type.
How I do to convert a vector file to raster in this case?
There are someplace where is possible to change the type of attribute from
String to Real? In this direction I have proceeded in the DBF file the
change of values from text to numbers.
