[Qgis-user] averaging

Hi all!

Following this post
http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/25798/how-much-sense-does-it-make-to-average-lat-lon-samples-in-order-to-increase-2d
that talks about averaging a few number of GPS measures to increase
accuracy, a few doubts came to me:

   1. Is it possible to automatically collect a large dataset of (GPS)
   points within QGIS, even with any kind of time/number of points limit?
   2. Are there any tool to average points with an statistical analysis
   (there is not much sense to include distant points to calculate the mean
   point)?
