That's the venerable *NIX approach. Of course nothing wrong with that, but it is a
fact that for most users nowadays the most appreciated approach is the "one tool for
everything". So in short I would like to see QGIS to include as much cartographic
functionality as possible. Any specific suggestion about missing functions or areas
of improvement would be important in this respect..

We have a nice plugin that does about the same thing.

Have you seen the 3D Globe plugin? Still to be completed though.
