As a user, and watching how often questions like this are coming up this would be a great idea - provided the list of known issues is easy to find.
There may need to be a brief note on what a desktop manager is. (Some might be new-ish and not realise that you can change the desktop like that, and some of us spend so much time in windows at work that we'd almost forgotten!)
I'd even consider it reasonable for there to be some wording to the effect of "we're not the only ones..."
