[Qgis-user] QGIS 1.8 quits while loading layers

I've just updated a few packages:

libqgis1.8.0 (1.9.90+git20120608+ee2f1bd~lucid1) to
1.9.90+git20120609+53b57d1~lucid1python-qgis
(1.9.90+git20120608+ee2f1bd~lucid1) to 1.9.90+git20120609+53b57d1~lucid1
python-qgis-common (1.9.90+git20120608+ee2f1bd~lucid1) to
1.9.90+git20120609+53b57d1~lucid1
qgis (1.9.90+git20120608+ee2f1bd~lucid1) to
1.9.90+git20120609+53b57d1~lucid1
qgis-common (1.9.90+git20120608+ee2f1bd~lucid1) to
1.9.90+git20120609+53b57d1~lucid1
qgis-plugin-grass-common (1.9.90+git20120608+ee2f1bd~lucid1) to
1.9.90+git20120609+53b57d1~lucid1
qgis-providers (1.9.90+git20120608+ee2f1bd~lucid1) to
1.9.90+git20120609+53b57d1~lucid1
qgis-providers-common (1.9.90+git20120608+ee2f1bd~lucid1) to
1.9.90+git20120609+53b57d1~lucid1

Now, when loading layers for my one and only project, qgis just quits with
no message. Is it possible that it's quitting because it can't find a
layer's source files? I did delete some files as well.

Is there a way to find out what it's failing on?

Thanks,
Ben.
