Hello Daniele,

this error pops up randomly on Mac. Carson suggested it is a problem
with PyQt and rpy2
http://osdir.com/ml/qgis-user-gis/2009-07/msg00112.html

There is a potential solution, that implies reinstalling R, QGIS,
GDAL and rpy2:
http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/17169/is-it-possible-to-run-an-r-script-on-a-layer-in-qgis

but before, I'd ask you to file a ticket on Homerange plugin bugtracker
with your current configuration, i.e. which versions of QGIS, R, rpy2,
PyQt you have installed and from which sources. Your message was
already very detailed, but we need as many information as possible to
try to track down the bug.

Many thanks,

Anne
