Thank you Giovanni,
Does that mean I cannot load openlayers maps and WMS maps at the same time. The only option I seem to have for the WMS maps is WGS 84 and UTM zone 19, or is there a way to display both within the same project?

are you using layers from the "openlayers" plugin? if yes, then you must reproject everything in the google mercator CRS.
