[Qgis-user] Error messages at startup

I am a new user of QGIS & recently installed Quantum GIS Version 1.7.4, but
I am getting certain error messages at startup.
1. *QGIS couldn't find your GRASS installation.*

*Would you like to specify path (GISBASE) to your GRASS installation? Ok or
Cancel*

If I press cancel I get the following message.

*GRASS data won't be available if GISBASE is not specified.*


*2. Python error*

*Couldn't load plugin GoogleLayers due an error when calling its initGui()
method

If I close the error messages, QGIS is loading, but I am having problems
while working with google maps.
