[Qgis-user] Optimizing spatialite in QGIS

To the list -

Is there any method to issue Pragma directives to a spatialite database 
when it's used in QGIS ?

Or more generally: Can I optimize how QGIS accesses spatialite based 
layers ? I have some relatively large spatialite databases that I access 
with QGIS and lots of unused RAM in my Windows based computer. (Windows 
7, QGis ver. 1.8).
