[Qgis-user] SVG export New Symbology [was Text symbols]

I can report back:
Newstyle labels are not exported as text to SVG. This is indeed a problem.
Problem with Oldstyle labels is that buffers don't work, which is quite essential too if you annotate your data.
I'm running:
QGIS version
1.8.0-Lisboa
QGIS code revision
6416f38

If you want to export your map to pdf or svg you should use new-style labelling (the Icon with the letters "ABC" on the toolbar), otherwise export fails. New-style labelling allows you to place labels parallel to lines, could be quite useful too.

Last time I checked the results with old Labeling and old Symbology were more compatible with SVG export. Specifically the New stuff didn't keep text as text which is a problem for SVG cleanup.

Did this change in 1.8?

Thanks,
Alex
