[Qgis-user] Lock layer's color

Hello,
I currently describe the new Style tab in QGIS 2.0.0. for the user
manual. When describing the 'Lock layer's color' function under the
'Symbol layers' menu I found that even when you lock the color of a
symbol layer the 'Color' option on the right side is available and you
can change the color of the symbol layer. Does anybody know how the
'Lock layer's color' works? When are the color reliably locked?
