[Qgis-user] layer label plugin

I'm trying to use the plugin 'Layer to labeled layer' plugin which should enable me to change the appearance and position of a label.  The dialogue box allows me to select a new font but when I apply it nothing changes.   It just stays with the default font, 10 point Arial, which is too big for what I want to do.

Any ideas?    Thanks in advance.
