Hi,

No - you'd need a separate polygon for the country object - either in a
separate layer (recommended) or in the same layer overlapping.

For line elements there is a functionality to label adjacent features
with the same text attribute only once (e.g. for streets), but for area
features such functionality does not exist yet.
