[Qgis-user] ECW file cannot open in QGIS 2.4

GDAL/OGR on Ubuntu does not support ECW by default due to licensing
restrictions. You have to rebuild GDAL/OGR with ECW support.

Once you do that QGIS will be able to read ECW.
I'm not sure how you got this to work previously without rebuilding GDAL.
